Pastor William accepted our Call as pastor on August 01, 2019. He holds a Masters of Divinity from Luther Seminary, St. Paul, MN. A Masters in Biblical Studies from the Tallahassee Christian College & Training Center (fka Center for Biblical Studies), Tallahassee, FL. Undergraduate degrees from Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL and Monroe Community College SUNY, Rochester, NY.
Pr. William is a second career pastor, with a background in finance and tax accounting. He expresses that it is a privilege to be married to Linda, a retired teacher, and current chaplain.
Pr. William and Linda come to us from serving congregations in: Tallahassee FL, St. Paul MN, Arthur ND, Sommonauk IL, and Peru IL. They are both glad to call Ohio home.
Vicki is a longtime member of Zion and has been our secretary for over six years. She works with Pastor William and Church Council on the day to day operations of our church office. If it happens at the church, Vicki probably worked on it! In addition to Vicki’s office duties, she shares a love of cars with her husband and is the driving force behind the cruise-ins at Zion.
James G. (“Jim”) Fidler was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. He earned a B.A., from Temple University and then a Juris Doctorate from Temple University School of Law. Jim served as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (“FBI”). Jim and his wife moved to Canton, and joined Zion Lutheran Church in 2006. Jim has served on several special project committees and previously served on the Church Council in various positions including President.
Connie is a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church. She and her husband Rick have two grown children, Melissa and Chad, as well as two grandsons. Connie works for Plain Local Schools as a paraprofessional with Kindergarten. She and her husband Rick enjoy motorcycle riding, so keep an eye out for the two of them riding around town on their Harley Davidson Trike.
Jayne has been a member of Zion for over 50 years. She and her husband Mike have two children and four grandchildren. SHe is an active participant in Food Pantry, VBS & Fall Craft Show. Jayne enjoys flower gardening, walking and babysitting her grandkids.
Beth is a life-long member of Zion, having been baptized, confirmed, and married in the church. She and her husband Sam have two children. Beth has a Bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University and has served as the Treasurer for four years.
Paul is a retired elementary school principal from Kent and a Canal Fulton Lion member. Paul is the father of four adult children, husband to Cindy for 49 years, and enjoys camping.
Scott has been a member of Zion Lutheran Church for 74 years. He worked forty plus years in the rubber industry developing Military, Material Handling, & Automotive custom products. The Caring Ministry consists of several supporting teams: Visitation, Parish Nurse, Prayer Chain, Funeral Reception Meals, Comfort Givers, Food Pantry, and others. Please consider joining us in these important outreach activities.
Debbie has been a member of Zion since 1999. She and her husband, Dean, have two sons and two dogs who love to come to church. Debbie has also served as Parish Life Elder, Christian Education Chair and currently is the VBS Director, as well as a Sunday School & Youth Leader.
John is a 15- year member of Zion whose five children have spent their formative years at Zion developing their understanding and compassion for their fellow man. He is a graduate of Purdue University with BSAE engineering degree which spawned 40+ year career in product development to efficiently and effectively utilize God’s resources. Using this background to support Zion’s mission for community development.
Tina is a native Cantonian and has enjoyed being a member of Zion for many years.
She is looking forward to becoming more involved with the church, and is hoping many members will also join her in our congregation’s activities and fellowship.
Tina is retired as a Registered Nurse. She enjoys exercising, music, theater and world travel. In her free time, she loves babysitting and spending time with her three beautiful grandchildren.
Laura is the Elder of the Social Ministry whose purpose is to advocate and express love, as exemplified in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, in the congregation and in the community. She lives in North Canton with her family and is a graduate of The University of Akron.
Sue has been a member of Zion Lutheran Church since 1992. She has enjoyed being involved throughout the church as a Sunday School teacher, VBS teacher, a Women’s Bible Study leader, Volunteering with the Food Pantry, Habitat for Humanity and serving on the ELCA Synod Assembly as a voting member.
She and her husband have 4 grown children and 6 grandchildren and enjoy traveling.
George grew up two blocks away from the church, was baptized by Pastor Ruth, confirmed by Pastor Musche, and was also an acolyte at Zion. George’s mom, Audrey was active with the women of Zion, working alongside some of the ladies currently in Women of Zion & Comfort Givers. George has enjoyed two of his sisters’ weddings at Zion over the years as well. He’s excited to take on this new role and looks forward to working with the congregation enhancing the beauty of our Church.
