Jesus is; “The true light, which enlightens everyone” (v9.)  We need this light; the light that shines in our darkness. In our darkness of pandemic sickness, death, and despair. In our darkness of the loss of jobs, homes, and social well-being. In our darkness of political, social, and racial divisions. Shine Jesus, shine! Shine your love; that we might share love. Shine your peace; that we might be released from fear. Shine your presence; that we might feel connected to one another. O come, O come, Emmanuel.
