16th Sunday after Pentecost (Luke 16:19-31)
Gospel Message from Pastor William.
The rich man ignored poor suffering Lazarus who lay at his gate longing to be fed and comforted. Even in his death, the rich man still ignored Lazarus. Note that he called on Abraham to send Lazarus to bring comfort to him in Hades. He is still ignoring Lazarus, still claiming authority over Lazarus. In his life he failed to heed the call of the prophets to care for the poor, widowed, orphaned, and alien. In his death, he continued that failure. How do you resemble the self-important rich man? What people in need are you not seeing?
