17th Sunday after Pentecost (Luke 17:5-10)
Gospel Message from Pastor William.
In the verses prior to this reading, Jesus tells his disciples they must be ready to forgive, no matter the cost. In this reading, the disciples ask for more faith, for they see how difficult it is to forgive. But Jesus tells them a parable about being humble in their duty to serve others. Followers of Jesus are commanded to forgive – it is that simple. Do your duty, says Jesus. Know that God has faith in you and that is enough to fulfill your duty.
