Jesus tells a parable about different types of soil and the effect it has on seeds. He explains the parable, thankfully, and says we are the soil and God’s word is the seed. He says that very few people hear the word of God with the result of having a life that actively cares for the environment, serves others, accepts those who differ, and loves enemies. No, says Jesus, too many people are a bit selfish and hard, or act with love until things get difficult, or are more comfortable doing things that bring themselves reward and happiness. Which of the four types are you? Which would Jesus prefer you to be?
