25th Sunday after Pentecost — Mark 13:1-8
Stewardship Moment from Pastor William
Stewardship in the Gospel
The disciples are impressed by the size and beauty of the Temple. Jesus says; Not so fast, that’s not important, “I am” is where it is at. Jesus is God (the great “I am”) and calls people to everlasting abundant life that begins long before the world comes to an end.
Stewardship in our community
Majestic buildings, grand entrances, stunning architecture – all are evident in our community. We are impressed by our ability to build. Maybe we should be less impressed with our homes and more focused on the lack of safe, suitable, and affordable housing for way too many in our community
Stewardship in practice
Jesus says grand church buildings are not what is important. Christians can and should be part of programs and projects that help provide safe and affordable housing. Shop for or donate your building supplies to Habitat ReStores. Pray for, financially support, or work at Hammer & Nails, Habitat for Humanity, or other Christian based home builders and restorers. Be part of the solution for the problem of adequate housing.
