Matthew 21:23-32

Stewardship Moment from Pastor William

Stewardship in the Gospel

Jesus teaches that workers are needed in God’s kingdom come. He needs the church leaders to focus on expanding God’s kingdom, not their church attendance or their own influence. Jesus wants more people to know of God’s love and to be changed by it. That is the work to be done outside, in the vineyard.

Stewardship in our community

We tend to focus on keeping our church doors open, and to keeping things comfortable for us inside our church buildings. That is not stewardship, it is selfishness. We forget that we are asked to go out into our community; to care for it, and to share the love of Jesus with those who don’t have it.

Stewardship in practice

There is plenty of fruit to be harvested, but we tend to want the fruit to just show up. Jesus asks us to go out into the vineyard to work the field, to tend to the crops, and to harvest the fruit. He will do all the work of growing, but we have to go out and do our part; not just sit back and wait. To whom will you go to encourage their growth? To whom will you go to tend to their needs? To whom will you show the love of Jesus? Don’t sit and wait, get moving.
