23rd Sunday after Pentecost – Luke 21:5-19

Stewardship Moment from Pastor William

Stewardship in the Gospel

The end is near! There are earthquakes and storms and all kinds of signs. But one major sign is missing: we quietly go to church; we don’t stir up society with Jesus’ love. Jesus said the end is near when we are being arrested and persecuted for stirring up society by proclaiming the good news in Jesus’ name.

Stewardship in our community

Proclaiming Jesus’ love in society leads to turning our community upside down. Things that society thinks important is shown for what it is worth – nothing. Love of others is elevated, equal treatment of all humans is essential, and freedom of those oppressed by others is demanded.

Stewardship in practice

Jesus taught us about prayer that leads to action. Prayer that puts the well-being of others above our own. Prayer that has us looking to God for our direction. Prayer that asks God; Send me. How does your prayer life compare to all that? Jesus said to pray this way; Our Father in heaven…thy will be done.
