3rd Sunday in Lent – Luke 13:1-9
Stewardship Moment from Pastor William
Stewardship in the Gospel
Jesus’ parable is about spreading manure and giving the tree one last opportunity to bear fruit. Jesus isn’t willing to give up on it just yet. Jesus’ desire is that all people will bear fruit in God’s kingdom; and he is willing to spend a little more time and effort to help it happen.
Stewardship in our community
We are told the fruits of God’s kingdom are: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. It is our duty to help our community produce these fruits. When we do that, the whole community prospers.
Stewardship in practice
This week, focus on bearing one of those nine fruits of the Spirit. Make deliberate efforts to produce that fruit in all situations; conversations with one another, thoughts while watching the news, actions while you drive, and interactions as you shop.
