4t Sunday in Lent – Luke 15:1-3, 11b-32
Stewardship Moment from Pastor William
Stewardship in the Gospel
Jesus’ parable is about a father who loves his sons recklessly, uncontrollably, and extravagantly. He gives more than is deserved, exhibits overwhelming love, and generously welcomes with familial inclusivity – prodigal behavior at its best!
Stewardship in our community
Too often, community behavior is to exclude, to exhibit prodigally poor practices. Community really needs prodigally good practices. Love that cares not about how it is returned, inclusivity that welcomes the shunned, and physical, emotional and monetary support that is generous beyond imagine.
Stewardship in practice
This week, consider how you can be prodigal to others. Perhaps you could speak a word of kindness to a stranger in line as you get coffee, or to the clerk when you purchase your groceries, or to the person at a neighboring gas pump. Consider how you might run to greet someone who is feeling outcast from society.
