Stewardship Moment - 5th Sunday After Epiphany

5th Sunday after Epiphany – Luke 5:1-11

Stewardship Moment from Pastor William

Stewardship in the Gospel

After teaching the crowds from Simon’s boat, Jesus turns to Simon to teach him about the fallacy of self-reliance. Simon fished all night without success, but when Jesus tells him to put into deep waters the results are astounding.

Stewardship in our community

Society teaches us that only those who help themselves are rewarded. In order for that to be true, followers of Christ must ignore Jesus’ command to serve others. The deep waters of Jesus produce a bounty beyond one’s own needs.

Stewardship in practice

God provides abundantly, not equally. Why would God do that? So those with more than necessary can have the pleasure of connecting with and serving those in need. The deep waters of Jesus produce a bounty of blessings for all.
