5th Sunday in Lent – John 12:1-8

Stewardship Moment from Pastor William

Stewardship in the Gospel

Jesus is approaching death and all Judas can think about is the waste of money being spent by Mary in anointing Jesus’s feet. Soon, Jesus will wash Judas’ feet and tell him this is an example of what disciples should be doing to others.

Stewardship in our community

In 2019 Pope Francis washed and kissed the feet of 12 prisoners telling them to reject traditional prison inmate practices that the strongest rule, and instead seek to help one another. Wow! In 1869 Darwin posited the theory of survival of the fittest. Prison and society tend to support and encourage the rule of strongest, but that is not proper stewardship.

Stewardship in practice

This week, search earnestly for at least one way you can use your strength to bend down to kiss the feet of the weak and lowly by helping them in a meaningful way. I’d love to hear what you did.
