Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23

Stewardship Moment from Pastor William

Stewardship in the Gospel

In Jesus’ parable about the four types of soil and their effect on seeds, he explains that God’s word should change us to be more like God; caring about creation, providing from abundance, and loving enemies.

Stewardship in our community

Community is a field of four soil types; selfish and hard, fickle and short-lived, worried and fruitless, and changed and generous. What the community needs is more people of the last type; those willing to consider how best to benefit the entire community and care for the environment.

Stewardship in practice

God provides an abundance of resources and God needs us to act in the same generous way - giving of ourselves for the benefit of the whole. Hear the word of God to act in love and concern for others and the world God created. Not just when it is convenient or easy (the first three types), but always.
