Baptism of our Lord – Matthew 3:13-17
Stewardship Moment from Pastor William
Stewardship in the Gospel
At his baptism, the Spirit of God descends upon Jesus and he is claimed as God’s Son. Thus begins the mighty works God will do through Jesus. People are cared for, freed from oppression, visited, taught, comforted and loved.
Stewardship in our community
There are many people in today’s society who are in need of the same things Jesus brought to his community. They need the same compassion Jesus exhibited. But by now, much of society has moved past the good will of Christmas and returned to not seeing those in need. The need is ever present for us to do works greater than Jesus’ works of compassion (John 14:12).
Stewardship in practice
Filled with the Spirit of God through our baptism, God works through us as we care for, free from oppression, visit, teach, comfort and love those around us. Let us eagerly seek out people to whom we can demonstrate Jesus-like compassion.
