Christmas Day – John 1:1-14

Stewardship Moment from Pastor William

Stewardship in the Gospel

God wanted to show God’s love and compassion for us, so what did God do? The only logical thing; God lowered Godself to become mere human and dwell with us. God lived among us, shared our lives, taught us God’s way, and showered us with love. That is stewardship in reverse: God took care of that which belonged to God.

Stewardship in our community

During the Christmas season, sentimentality persuades us to reach out to others and show them our love. Typically, this is done through the giving of gifts. But so often invitations to parties and celebrations contain the request; Your present to us is your presence.

Stewardship in practice

If we can afford to throw a party, we can afford to buy things we need. The one thing we can’t give to ourselves is time with people we love. God gives us that present of time in Jesus, Emmanuel; God with us. Give the gift of your presence to others; it will be cherished long after that sweater or knick-knack is long gone.
